Authors & Educators on a Mission's particular focus is on climate education and optimism. The group members' books include eco fiction, non-fiction, children's stories and graphic novels. Four members of the group - Gloria, Kevin, Neil and Alan - are undertaking a series of panel discussions and speaking engagements about various aspects of climate literacy and optimism from the particular perspectives of education, climate action, literature and entertainment. For this WildHub Festival session Authors & Educators on a Mission will engage in a general conversation introducing the group, why each of them became interested, the common interest in climate change and sustainability, the emphasis on climate literacy and why that matters, and how each member approaches these subjects through their books. Interested? The four panelists (Kevin Albin, Neil Kitching, Gloria Barnett and Alan J. Hesse) hope you will join them and engage with your own comments, questions and answers! My conservation career started in 1992 when I helped set up and joined a University expedition to the Bolivian Amazon. What started out as a 3-month experience ended up being a life-changing inflection point that set my professional and personal course to the present day. My conservation experience was built bottom-up and hands-on, and includes field data collection and logistics, grassroots organization leadership and project management, community engagement and capacity building, M&E, training and behavior change, and lately climate education through authorship of graphic novels and other resources.
