Hello Community,
As many of you are aware, IUCN WCPA is pleased to be supporting the 12th World Wilderness Congress (WILD12) to be held in He Sápa, South Dakota, USA in August 2024.
Ahead of WILD12, WCPA and WILD Foundation are compiling stories and case studies from Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPs & LCs) that recognize and embed Indigenous knowledge, leadership and stewardship into the care taking and management of wilderness (both de facto and designated protected areas). The resulting case study compilation aims to broaden and strengthen the global wilderness community by highlighting Indigenous values and knowledge already engaged in effective wilderness stewardship. Through these shared stories and experiences, we hope to foster a more inclusive approach that honors the wisdom of Indigenous communities, ensuring the continued health of wilderness around the world. We invite Indigenous organisations and nations, local communities, partners, and collaborators to submit your case study to be included in the case study report and associated materials using this submission form. The deadline for case study submissions is June 30, 2024. If you are unable to submit your case study using the Google Form, please download, fill, and send the template found here to Erinn Drage at wcpa.drage@gmail.com.
Any questions about the process can be directed to Erinn Drage at wcpa.drage@gmail.com.
Looking forward to receiving your submissions- or in case you know anyone who might have such case studies ☘️
