Over time, I have had a perspective to addressing poverty that is not supposed to be. The approach was if all the money owned by the rich would be equally distributed, we won't have poor people in the society and as a result, climate impact and adaptation will be minimal. But while preparing to teach on Nutrition, poverty and climate change and making researches, a lot about my approach to addressing poverty changed.
The lesson we learnt today made us consider many different perspectives on life and I enjoyed the session.
Next week, I was supposed to teach them "Nutrition." In order to effectively teach the topic, I choose to use a TEDx Talk series video from the professional course I am now taking with Earth Charter International .
"The Story We Tell About Poverty Isn't True by Mia Birdsong " was what we were looking at. We discussed a wide range of ideas such as the causes of poverty, and I let them share their perspectives on what poverty is including :
✅The right approach to address poverty.
✅The concept of hard work and luck.
✅The need to look into our inner self.
✅The connection between poverty and Climate Change.
We had open discussions on the fact that no amount of charity or gifts can eradicate poverty; instead, we must look within and discover our inner strength .
Embedded in every child is an inner strength that can be harnessed to bring out the best in them.
