Hello WildHub community!

I’m Aliyah Pandolfi, Executive Director of Kashmir World Foundation (KwF). I’m excited to be here and connect with all who are passionate about wildlife conservation and the protection of endangered species via innovative technology solutions. At KwF, we’re dedicated to protecting endangered species by blending conservation efforts with cutting-edge technology like AI and autonomous systems such as Drones, Rovers, and Marine robotics. Our work brings together conservationists, scientists, technologists, local communities, and educators from around the globe, all working toward one goal: leveraging technology to safeguard wildlife and enhance conservation efforts.

One of our most exciting projects is the Rainforest BioAcoustics Research Initiative, where we’re using AI-driven sound analysis in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula to interpret bird vocalizations. This research explores how avian communication can indicate ecosystem health and signal threats, such as poaching or illegal logging. Ultimately, our goal is to develop a “universal translator” for birds, using machine learning and natural language processing to decode their “language.” By linking vocalizations to specific environmental cues, we aim to detect disturbances in real-time and support a rapid response system to protect the rainforest and its inhabitants.

For those interested in getting involved, we offer internship and externship opportunities where you can gain hands-on experience working on real-world conservation challenges. And if you’re looking for an immersive field experience, our Rainforest DeepData Expedition is coming up in March 2025. It’s a chance for researchers, students, and conservation enthusiasts to join us in Costa Rica for biodiversity surveys, setting up camera and audio recorders, ecological monitoring, and data collection that will feed into our AI model development.

I’m really looking forward to connecting with all of you here, hearing about your projects, and hopefully finding ways to work together. Thank you for welcoming me into the community!

Warmly,
Aliyah
