Hello, I'm Aurora

My name is Aurora and I am currently volunteering with Plover Rovers, a new UK-based science education charity.

In 2019 I graduated with an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. Although I am originally from the US, I have since moved to northeastern Wales with my partner. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I began remotely volunteering for Plover Rovers and taking online courses like this one to build up my skillset in the hopes of once again finding full-time employment. I am very passionate about wildlife and land conservation, but my real love is birds.

I look forward to refining my project management skills and meeting the rest of you during the live sessions.

Local Engagement Officer, Plover Rovers

Hello Aurora, I did my masters at UEA too! I love it! Diana Bell is still there isn't she? Did you enjoy it?

Hi Beth! It's always great to meet fellow UEA alums. Diana Bell was actually my academic advisor! I think she's still there, but it has been awhile since I've heard from her. The Master's programme was amazing though. I honestly wish I could have spent more time at UEA; the atmosphere and location were amazing. :)

Ah great, glad she is still there. I love the city and still have friends there so visit occasionally, although haven't done this year! I went last summer and had travelled by train with my bike, so cycled lots around the city and forgot how good the city is for cycling.

Hi Aurora and Beth, I am considering a masters after the threat of lockdowns has passed. UEA is one I am interested in would you recommend it?

Yes I would! Lots of bird-y stuff going on there :) When I did it, it was one of the cheaper ones, but not sure how true that is now as they are all expensive. It was a small cohort which I liked as I got to know everyone on the course and still have some really good friends from there. Norwich is a great city, lots going on but also laid back.

Wow that sounds perfect for me! Norfolk is definitely a top birding county in the whole world let alone the UK haha. Norwich also sounds perfect for me if it's laid back :)

Hi again Aurora! not sure why (probably something at my end?) but I can't see a 'Follow' button for you, only a 'Start Panel' option... Anyway feel free to drop me an email / twitter DM if you want to chat some more about anything. Cheers

Hi Aurora, great to know that you are joining this course too! It's been 2 years since our graduation at UEA, time passed so fast. Hope that covid-19 isnt so bad over there. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

We should have a catch-up sometimes! - Mai
