Hello, I'm Sam, currently based in South Somerset. I have a BSc (Hons) in Conservation Biology and Ecology from the University of Exeter (Cornwall Campus) and an MSc in Tropical Marine Biology from the University of Exeter. I guess you could say my area of expertise is in Coral Reef Restoration. I have just spent returned from my second two-year stint in the Maldives implementing and managing a reef restoration project at a luxury resort, like many, due to COVID I have now found myself unemployed and am hoping that this course will give me a bit of a boost during the job hunt. I really wish I had known about this course before my most recent role in the Maldives as I think it would have made life much easier while designing, implementing and managing the reef restoration programme, though I doubt it will be my last. I hope to commence a PhD within the next two years and continue a career in coral reef conservation and research.
Since graduating with my BSc I have lived and worked in the Bahamas, Seychelles and Maldives working on various marine conservation programmes. I hate being cold (struggling with these shorter days), love being in the ocean, snorkelling, diving, freediving, surfing, SUPing. Since being back in the UK I've enjoyed exploring Somerset, baking, sewing and being able to run in a "straight" line for more than 400m (the drawbacks of island life).
I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the course and meeting/interacting with you all.

Hello Sam, oh wow, sounds like you've spent time in interesting places doing cool things. I love the photo. We've got a few other Exeter alumni / current students on this course, seem to always have a few!
