Hello all - my name is Cara, I'm a higher officer at Natural England working on building partnerships for the Nature Recovery Network. I work very closely with government and external organisations to collaborate and achieve funding for nature recovery. I am also on a MSc degree in Ecological Science, in my final year, now working on my dissertation project (eDNA project on Angelsharks). Looking forward to learning more about project management!

A warm welcome to WildHub, Cara! Great to have you join us.

Nice to hear you are doing research on Angel sharks - I know they are classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. I would love to hear more about your dissertation project, if you'd like to share. There was a paper published last year (if I remember correctly) about using eDNA to detect white shark distribution in the Mediterranean sea as numbers have drastically decreased due to overfishing in the area. Is your research looking at the use of eDNA as a monitoring technique for Angel sharks? This isn't really my field of study, I am just interested in marine ecology and conservation :)

Welcome to WildHub, Cara! 🌿✨

It’s fantastic to have someone with your experience in building partnerships for the Nature Recovery Network! Your work with Natural England and your expertise in securing funding for conservation initiatives are so valuable to our community. And an eDNA project on Angelsharks sounds fascinating—what an exciting area of research!

As you dive into project management, is there a specific aspect you’re hoping to strengthen? Looking forward to exchanging ideas and learning from your journey!
