SAWD (Save African Wild Dog) is committed to preserving the endangered African wild dog species through community conservation efforts. Facing threats like habitat loss and diseases, SAWD recognizes the vital role of these animals in ecosystem balance and aims to ensure their survival.

Operating with a community-centered approach, SAWD engages local communities as key stakeholders in wild dog conservation, empowering them and fostering shared responsibility for protection.

Mitigating human-wildlife conflict is a core strategy, involving techniques like predator-proof fencing and livestock guardian animals, aimed at fostering coexistence and reducing retaliatory killings.

Education and outreach are also priorities, with programs raising awareness and instilling pride in local communities, while collaborations with authorities and researchers gather crucial data for effective conservation.

SAWD's success isn't just about saving wild dogs but also positively impacting communities and ecosystems. By fostering stewardship, SAWD creates a lasting legacy of conservation.

Additionally, SAWD plans to enhance local wellbeing by supporting livelihood projects in areas with high human-wildlife conflict, starting with Chitungulu and Kazembe Chiefdoms, and expanding to the Luangwa Valley ecosystem landscape in the future. Engagements with local authorities are ongoing, laying the groundwork for future operations.
