How are you finding the materials for this week?

Hello!

How are your weeks going? How are you finding the materials this week?Β

THEORY OF CHANGE COMMENTS

Comments have been added to your theory of changes now for you to review and then make adjustments as you wish. I'm impressed at what you managed to achieve in the short amount of time in the live sessions.Β

GROUP PHOTO

In the next live session, we will be doing a group photo! πŸ§€ We do this in class-based workshops so we thought why not do this for online ones too?! As there are two live sessions we will take a screenshot in each session and combine them. You are welcome to turn your camera off if you'd rather not be in the photo.

WHICH BEST PRACTICE SHOULD WE MAKE NEXT?

We want your thoughts, please tell us which conservation training workshop we should make next..... Social marketing? Grant writing?

Please add suggestions below πŸΈπŸ§πŸ¦‹

SOFTWARE FOR CREATING CONCEPTUAL MODELS

At the moment, we use PowerPoint for creating conceptual models as we can use our font and colours. We've been using Google slides in the workshop which is good because multiple people can work on the document at the same time. With both these options, however, it can be a bit fiddly to make the arrows neat. Two suggestions from participants on Monday were

  • Miradi - Conservation specific software which uses the Open Standard approach that SDWC is based on. It is free for the first 60 days.Β
  • Y works - I've only had a quick look but it looks good. You can change the colour of boxes and there are lots of options for arrows.Β

All the best,

WildLearning Specialist, WildTeam

I'm a WildLearning Specialist with WildTeam, a bit of a odd job title. My main role is to design, deliver and organise both our online and class-based training workshops. One of the best parts of my job is meeting other conservationists and learning about the work that they do. I really enjoy geeking out reading teaching theory and thinking about ways I can more creatively and engagingly deliver learning. Before working for WildTeam I did a PhD in invasive plants and human wildlife interactions. I find it really interesting to learn about the ways people interact with nature, both when nature is being wonderful, but also when is is being a bit annoying!
