Join the WildHub community for an open discussion about how to develop an authentic, equitable, people-centered approach to conservation.  Learn from panel experts about the field of Inclusive Conservation and what it means to prioritize Indigenous peoples and local communities in conservation efforts. In recent years, there has been a significant shift among the conservation community to implement more people-centered approaches.  However, many practitioners and organizations lack the understanding or tools to make this shift authentically and successfully. Gain insight from leaders in this work about how to prioritize the people, practices and knowledge that have protected lands and species for generations. Through this discussion, participants will:

• Gain an understanding of successful models of people centered approaches
• Capacity and leadership development strategies reflective of pillars and practices of Inclusive Conservation 
• Resources for continued learning and implementation.

I am the Conservation Leadership Manager at Denver Zoo in Colorado, USA where my work has included the development of capacity, leadership, and strategy in conservation, as well as community engagement and the Zoo’s graduate Advanced Inquiry Program. I am drawn by human-centered solutions and collaborations in my work and I am working on being an active part of the movement to disrupt colonial conservation frameworks by changing the way people and organizations operate. I believe in providing platforms for and the protection of Indigenous peoples’ and local community conservation knowledge and practices and believe that is where the conservation field needs to go to progress.
