E-Learning and online training

Learn from experienced conservationists how they incorporate online learning in their work to increase positive conservation impact.

Has anybody joined this free webinar on e-learning before?

Hi people, has anyone joined this free webinar on creating and launching your online courses by Jeanine Blackwell before? If so, was it any good? It's a sponsored ad on Facebook so I am not sure if worth my time. Seems to emphasise the profit-side of online courses as well. Many thanks for your thoughts!

Hmmm, no I haven't seen it before, but would be interested to hear what others think. I found similar ones when researching for the WildTeam online courses, some were useful, but like you said, a lot of the emphasis was on the profit side of things which wasn't interesting. I find myself skim reading them quickly to get to the useful parts.

Thanks Beth, that is useful to hear. Please let me know if you have examples of others that you found useful or what you gained by
reading/joining these conversations.

I'm comparing different platforms for authoring & teaching online courses, e.g. Teachable, Thinkific, Learnist, Pathwright and there's a similar pattern.  Many focus on monetizing your content, with usability for the teacher prioritised over good pedagogical practice.

If I hear of any webinars by people who I know care about designing interactive, engaging, student-centred online courses (or if I can find the time to develop one myself!) I will share here.

A narrower focus, but helpful in these times: WildLabs are running a virtual workshop this Tuesday 24th March on 'Running engaging events in Zoom' - https://www.wildlabs.net/resources/community-announcements/wildlabs-virtual-workshop-running-engaging-events-zoom

Many thanks Lucy for helpful comments and also for the link to the WILDLABS workshop - this is great!

Hi Thirza, I've signed up to the webinar to check it out. As Lucy has pointed out, I'm assuming that most of the content will be less relevant to me due to the focus on profit but happy to share any useful bits after I've attended, or even recommend it if it turns out to be more relevant than expected.

Hi Keiron, many thanks for your message and good to know you have signed up for this webinar. I would be interested in learning how useful it was for you ater you've attended - thanks in advance for sharing. Because we felt there may be a gap, both Beth Robinson and Lucy Tallents have taken the lead on organising a WildHub Webinar on 'Rapid adaptation to e-learning' to look at it from a conservation angle. Please find more information in this post, if you are interested. Please let me know if you have any specific questions on this topic that we may be able to address as a community. Thanks!

Hi all. This looks good and more up our street:https://ohs.stanford.edu/how
