About Simon

I became passionate about marine conservation during a stint with GVI in the Seychelles. I decided to retrain as a dive instructor and spent 5 months in the Maldives, three awesome months with Green Fins in the Philippines. Two and a half years in Belize working in a 1 acre island in the Sapodilla Cays with Reef conservation International and 9 months in Madagascar working with Reef Doctor . That was followed by four years in Little Cayman saving for a MSc. I have just finished my MSc in Island Biodiversity with the Jersey International Centre of Advanced Studies / University of Exeter and now spend my days trawling the internet for jobs.

I have designed and built coral frames, developed ichthyofauna and Scleractinia identification training courses and surveys. Taught numerous students and interns to dive and spear invasive lionfish in the Caribbean and spend far too long under the water taking photos.

I was previously a research chemist and Campaign manager at AstraZeneca before taking voluntary early redundancy.
