Our members decide how to interact in this community, please respect their wishes

Last updated: 31 December 2025

WildHub is an international community of conservation professionals. We provide a space to exchange ideas, create new solutions, and make new partnerships to enable better conservation action that helps save more wildlife. We are a non-hierarchical friendly community of like-minded people, with similar values and different ideas. Our community is free to join and mainly for those currently working in the conservation sector, but it is open to anyone who feels that they can contribute in a meaningful way. Our community is member-led, meaning that members decide what to talk about, how to interact, and how to grow the community.

What are our values?

As members of WildHub, we are:

  • Welcoming to people of all kinds

  • Generous in our praise and support of others

  • Positive in our interactions and our contributions

  • Open about our motivations

  • Collaborative in how we interact with other members and grow our community

  • Responsible for the effects we have on others by our words and actions

We want to build a friendly, safe and engaging community for all, and in order to make sure we do this we have put together guidelines for you all to follow. By using this website, you agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Use. If you have any questions related to these guidelines, please get in touch at hello@wildhub.community

The online platform technology is provided by Zapnito, which acts as the platform provider for the Website. Zapnito is a limited company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 08406532), with its registered office at 86–90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom.

Guidelines

These Community Guidelines have been kindly provided by WILDLABS (WILDLABS.NET) and adapted for the purpose of WildHub’s community. We thank WILDLABS Community Manager, Stephanie O’Donnell, and the WILDLABS community for setting and promoting these professional standards for community engagement across the conservation sector.

Safety

Although there are areas of the website that are reserved for members only and private conversations (i.e. in private rooms), please remember that anyone could be reading what you post. Take care with details which could identify anyone linked to the work that you are involved in. Exercise caution in revealing proprietary, confidential information or sensitive information from your organisation. If the location of your work is sensitive, do not disclose information on the location and take care with personal details such as addresses, phone numbers and information about your personal life and the personal life of others.

No matter where you talk on the website, when discussing sensitive information about your work we suggest anonymising it.

Style, manners and language

We expect everyone to conduct themselves in a professional manner in keeping with the professional status of this community. We recommend that you complete your WildHub profile (e.g. profile picture, job details). The more detail you add to your profile, the more people will want to engage with you and the more connected you’ll be to fellow community members. Be yourself; please never impersonate another person. Present your opinions and positions in a tactful and moderate fashion, and always give the benefit of the doubt. Remember, not everyone has English as a first language and that things may not come across as intended.

Spirited debates and opinionated comments are always welcome, but any unnecessary rudeness or disrespect is not. Please be nice to each other and share your ideas in a civilised and measured manner. Assume goodwill and hold fire on the assumption that most misunderstandings arise from the text-based format of the discussion rather than the negative intent on the part of others. Learn to listen to written words and the person behind the words. We encourage everyone to practice the count-to-ten method: if something makes you upset or angry, walk away from the computer for a while so that when you return you can continue the discussion in a more composed state. Finally, please refrain from dominating conversations and let everyone have a voice in the discussion.

Content must be free from hate speech, discrimination, or material that promotes violence or intolerance against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

The use of swearing, offensive and threatening language, and uploading images which may cause offence is strictly prohibited and we have the right to edit and/or remove such content or any other content from the Website that we believe may cause offence. Please ensure that your contributions do not contain abusive or false statements. Do not forget that you are legally responsible for what you submit. Each situation will be evaluated on a case by case basis but we have the right to restrict you from using the Website if we believe that you have breached these guidelines.

Advertising and promotion

We encourage you to post adverts on conservation-related:

  • Training/workshops

  • Funding

  • Consultancy support

  • (Networking) events

  • Technology

Such adverts should be posted in the appropriate rooms (e.g. Training room). Other forms of advertising or promotion are only permitted where explicitly agreed with WildHub, for example through paid advertising or partnership arrangements. We may remove unauthorised promotional content and restrict access where these guidelines are breached.

To ensure the community remains usable, please be thoughtful about where you begin new conversations. If you begin an off-topic thread in a group, the moderator may move your conversation into a more appropriate group or remove it entirely if it is considered spam. Likewise, please ensure your comments within a conversation remain on topic. Off-topic comments may be moved into a new thread to allow the discussion to continue, or if they are considered spam they will be removed. Each situation will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Content

As explained in our website’s Terms of Use, content that you upload must not infringe the rights of any other person or organisation. If we believe that the content that you have uploaded on to the Website is likely to infringe the rights of a third party or if we believe that the content uploaded violates these guidelines or our Website Terms of Use we have the right to edit or remove such content at our discretion. We also have the right to suspend and/or permanently restrict your access to the Website if we believe that you have uploaded or used the Website in a way which is contrary to these guidelines and/or the Website's Terms of Use.

Please attribute quotes and paraphrased comments to their proper sources. If you want to upload a copy of an image, text, video or any other content, make sure you have the right to reproduce them on this Website. Posting copyright material without permission may be unlawful. If you want to discuss someone else’s work, please summarise it in your own words. You can only post links to another Website if the content on that other site abides with these Guidelines, and if that other Website allows you to post links to their Website.

Content added to the Website within groups, discussions or comments made by the Website’s members are not endorsed or reflective of WildHub.

Reporting and Moderation

WildHub is post-moderated. This means content appears on the Website as soon as it is posted, but may be reviewed afterwards.

If you believe that any content breaches these Community Guidelines or the Terms of Use, please report it by contacting us at hello@wildhub.community. We will review concerns and take appropriate action where necessary to maintain a respectful and constructive community.

Moderation decisions are made by WildHub and may include editing or removing content, issuing warnings, or restricting access in line with the Terms of Use

Technical Issues

We aim to keep the Website running smoothly. If you experience any technical issues or errors, please report them to hello@wildhub.community, providing as much detail as possible so we can investigate.
