I am a frog ecologist and I come from a little corner of India in the confluence of the Indo-Burma and the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspots. Before choosing to work on frogs, I was involved in projects studying mammals and birds. Besides research I also love creating quiet illustrations of wildlife and moments that speak in whispers, telling layered stories where words often fall short.

Through my work I aim to explore the lesser-known species that inhabit the lesser-studied places. These often overlooked creatures and remote habitats hold untold ecological stories. Through my research and storytelling, I hope to bring them into the light so that awareness can lead to understanding, and understanding to conservation.

I hope to connect with fellow researchers and storytellers who share the belief that the science of conservation belongs in the hands of everyone, from forest-edge communities to curious children, because only through shared knowledge can lasting change begin.

🌿 Welcome to WildHub, Thejavitso!

Your introduction is poetry in motion, layered, thoughtful, and truly inspiring. It’s a delight to have someone with such a beautiful blend of scientific curiosity and storytelling artistry join the community.

Your focus on overlooked species and habitats resonates deeply. I’m especially intrigued by your journey from studying mammals and birds to now exploring amphibians in such a rich biogeographical region. What drew you into the world of frogs? Was there a particular moment or species that sparked this leap?

Also, your illustrations sound enchanting. I'd love to see how your art speaks to conservation. Have you ever considered combining your visuals with data from fieldwork or community stories?

Looking forward to learning from you and growing alongside your journey. You're definitely in the right place to collaborate, share, and make a lasting impact.

Warm wishes from Kenya,

Simon.

Hello Simon, thank you for your kind words. After jumping between multiple projects over three years, I decided that I found frogs the most enchanting. Their diversity and particularly their vulnerability were what peaked my interest. The deciding factor however was that I had always wanted to work on something novel, yet overlooked.

In short, rather than one deciding moment, it was the culmination of experiences that drew me to study frogs further.

I've been eager to create science-informed illustrations, and while I’ve made a few, I’m excited to finally dive deeper into the subject and truly get started!:D

Thanks again for your warm welcome!

Hi Thejavitso,

I admire how your journey has been shaped by intentional curiosity and a desire to explore the overlooked. That quiet gravitation toward novel paths resonates with me.

I’m excited to hear that you’re diving deeper into science-informed illustrations! It feels like the perfect intersection of your storytelling and ecological insights. I can already imagine how your visuals might breathe life into lesser-known species, maybe even tied to specific habitats or cultural narratives from forest-edge communities.

Looking forward to seeing your art take flight and grow together through WildHub!

Warm regards from Kenya,

Simon
