Abby Chalkly (She/Her)

Nursery Assistant, Woodlands Nursery and Forest School

About Abby Chalkly

The opportunity to travel and grow up internationally instilled in me a passion for wildlife and connecting people to nature. I decided very early on that I wanted to pursue a career in conservation, and have undertaken a BSc in Applied Zoology and an MSc in Endangered Species Recovery and Conservation. While at university, I was able to build a range of skills, including conducting surveys, species monitoring, and using GIS. Moreover, I discovered a love of research and how projects are planned and executed efficiently.

I have worked in various roles since graduating from university, including as an Assistant Ecologist. Currently, I work as part of a forest school, where children are encouraged to spend time in nature and their passions are fostered.

I am undertaking this course to broaden my experience and understanding of project management, helping me set up future projects aimed at connecting people to the world they live in and empowering communities to be part of positive change.
