About Becx Whitefield
Senior lecturer in Animal Sciences at University Centre Reaseheath, Cheshire, UK. We are a small university centre based at a land-based college. My teaching focuses on animal behaviour for conservation, behavioural ecology and anthrozoology, I also design and lead our field trips to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya. Prior to lecturing I lived and worked in sub-central Africa (mostly Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe) focusing on the interface between tourism and conservation. I have extensively travelled and worked throughout sub-Saharan Africa and as such African wildlife & ecology is very much prominent in my teaching.
I'm currently undertaking PhD research entitled 'Communities, conservation and commodities: Investigating wildlife value orientations (WVOs) of ground level stakeholders sharing resources in a safari tourism hotspot.
