About Brandon Brand Buitrago Marulanda

Hi everyone! I’m Brandon, a Biologist and researcher at the Evolution, Ecology and Conservation (EECO) Research Group of the University of Quindío (Colombia), and co-director of the university’s Herpetology Group (GHUQ). I’m passionate about the ecology, evolution, and conservation of amphibians, especially poison frogs and glass frogs. My work combines evolutionary distinctiveness and species threat status to help guide conservation priorities.

I’ve been involved in fieldwork, species distribution modeling, and community-based projects across different regions of Colombia, as well as internships at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (Panama) and the University of Texas at Austin (USA).

I love connecting science with people through environmental education, local engagement, and applied research that generates real conservation impact. I’m looking forward to learning from all of you here on WildHub! 🌿🐸
