Conservation Officer for the RSPB Cambs/Beds/Herts area, appointed 2020. Working outside of our reserves to achieve conservation outcomes and support the progress of our Fens Priority Landscape aims. We focus on a few key priority habitats (predominantly wetlands and farmland) to increase the amount of land well-managed for nature (following the Lawton Principles of bigger, better and more joined up) to improve the status of a number of key species associated with these habitats (e.g., Turtle Dove, Black-Tailed Godwits). We work within and around our reserves with landowners / land managers - work of which I currently facilitate the Ely Nature-Friendly Farming Zone, a cluster group of nature-friendly farmers, and engage with and provide advice to our Operation Turtle Dove stakeholders creating or maintaining habitat for Turtle Doves.
