About Edward Swai
"Hello, everyone!
My name is Edward Swai, and I am a Tanzanian wildlife researcher and conservationist passionate about protecting biodiversity and promoting sustainable ecosystems."
"I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and am currently pursuing an MSc at Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST). My academic journey has been enriched through research roles with renowned institutions such as GRUMETI FUND, GMERC, EACOP, SUA, and MUST
"My primary expertise is in wildlife research, conservation, and ecological studies. I am particularly interested in scavenger species, focusing on the role of vultures and decomposer flies in nutrient cycling, disease ecology, and forensic science. My ongoing MSc research investigates the impact of vulture scavenging on decomposer fly communities in the Serengeti ecosystem and Ruaha National Parks, intending to understand how these interactions influence broader ecological processes."
"I am deeply passionate about promoting conservation-driven research that addresses key ecological questions. I am especially drawn to studies on vertebrate and invertebrate scavengers and their impact on ecosystem health and their application especially in wildlife forensic studies which is of limited use in many conservation initiatives. Beyond research, I’m dedicated to using modern tools and technology to enhance data collection and analysis for conservation initiatives."
"I am always open to learning from others, collaborating on conservation initiatives, and exploring new research opportunities. If you’re interested in connecting or have insights to share, I’d love to hear from you!"
