About Micaela Harkes

Hello! I’m a biologist from Argentina passionate about wildlife conservation, particularly the protection of endemic and threatened reptiles. I joined WildHub to connect with a global network of conservation practitioners, exchange ideas, and learn from others working to protect biodiversity in diverse contexts. My current research focuses on the spatial ecology and conservation strategies of lizard assemblages in the Somuncurá Plateau, a unique and fragile ecosystem in northern Patagonia. Through this work, I aim to identify priority areas for conservation and generate tools to support science-based decision-making. I’ve also been involved in environmental education, community engagement, and species monitoring projects using techniques like radio telemetry. I’m excited to contribute to and learn from this vibrant community!
