I am a dedicated project coordinator with a strong background in skill development and livelihood projects, currently based in Jharkhand, India. With a Master's degree in social work, I have spent several years working in various community-focused initiatives, aiming to uplift and empower individuals and communities. However, my true passion lies in the wild, and I have an ardent desire to embark on a career dedicated to wildlife conservation. At 36 years of age, I am eagerly looking forward to combining my skills and experience with my love for the natural world, to make a meaningful contribution to wildlife preservation and protection.

I was born in Kenya and have lived i the UK for 42 years now. My many years of working with small businesses and running various events to raise the profile of the businesses, has landed me a post for fundraiser Trustee for a UK wildlife Hospital. The founders of the hospital are very seasoned friends of mine and their dedication to saving every wildlife animal bird that comes through their door, is simply inspirational.
Therefore, I want to learn more about writing funding applications and grant applications. I also want to share my experiences of what has worked for us and what has not. Hopefully, we can all become better at doing what we do, through skill sharing.
As a dedicated Fisheries officer, I am at the forefront of preserving aquatic ecosystems and ensuring the sustainability of fish populations. My role involves a balance of fieldwork and strategic planning. On a typical day, i might be patrolling lakes, rivers, or coastal areas, ensuring that fishers comply with regulations such as catch limits and licensing requirements. My keen eye for detail allows me to detect and address illegal fishing activities effectively.

As a graduate of Environmental Science, my background equips me with the requisite skills in hydrology, ecology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Impact Assessment among other fields. In my current role as an Assistant Environmentalist at Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), I have been actively involved in environmental monitoring and auditing, developing and implementing environmental management systems, and interpreting field requirements. My responsibilities also include generating environmental progress reports and ensuring compliance with environmental standards, which have equipped me with a solid understanding of field methods and diagnostic tools.
I am also committed to professional excellence and continuous learning, as evidenced by my participation in several professional training programs, including workshops on Integrated Water Resources Management and GIS fundamentals.

I am a professor at the State University of Santa Cruz - Bahia - Brazil. As a veterinarian I work in the health context and lately I have admired the area of Unique Health, Ecosystem Health and Conservation Medicine. I am currently involved in research related to zoonotic diseases, including arboviruses, and also research in the area of animal welfare, biosafety and anesthesiology. In 2018, we founded the Wild Animal Care and Research Center (NAPAS), linked to the Veterinary Hospital of the University. In this space we are responsible for improving and maintaining the health status of wild animals in the southern region of the state of Bahia. We have a team made up of undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to specialists from the most varied areas of Veterinary Medicine.
I am a volunteer of one of the Wildlife Trust branches' local action youth forum, and in 2023 I worked as an Education and Community Engagement Officer for one of their local nature reserves, as part of a paid internship. I love wildlife and am deeply interested in helping people connect to nature for conservation and well-being. I seek a future role in the conservation and wildlife sector, and as grant writing is a vital skill for this sector, I decided to sign up to WildTeam for the Grant Writing for Wildlife Conservation course. I enjoyed the course so much, that I am continuing with the WildTeam's courses, starting with Project Planning for Wildlife Conservation.
I am currently finishing my viva corrections edits for my MSc Research degree in Biological Sciences at Bangor University, where I am researching variation in the vertebral column of rhesus macaques. I love primates, my favourite being lemurs, and I hope to see them someday in Madagascar.
I also love writing and hope to publish a novel one day. My preferred writing genres are fantasy and sci-fi (with a little nature thrown in too).

About Me
Hello everyone! I’m Dr Gilles Rolin Ananfack Kenfack, a passionate environmental advocate from Cameroon, dedicated to the sustainable management of our natural resources and the conservation of biodiversity. I hold a PhD in Integrated Management of Forest and Agroforestry Resources from the University of Dschang, where I also completed my Master’s in Natural Resource Management and Agroforestry. My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, which laid the groundwork for my analytical approach to environmental issues.
My Expertise
With extensive experience in project management and community-driven initiatives, I specialize in integrated resource management, biodiversity conservation, and the restoration of degraded landscapes. As the founder and president of the Cameroonian Association for the Promotion of Bamboo, Environmental Protection, Nature Conservation, and Local Development (BambouCamer), I focus on promoting bamboo as a sustainable resource that can drive local development and enhance environmental conservation.
My role as Director of Programs at the Community Association for Sustainable Development (CASuDev) involves coordinating various conservation and restoration projects, including efforts to protect the forest elephant population in the Campo Ma’an National Park and restoring degraded landscapes in Babadjou.
I am also skilled in community mobilization, capacity building, technical report writing, and social and environmental impact assessments. Throughout my career, I have successfully collaborated with government agencies, NGOs, and local communities to create sustainable and equitable solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
My Interests
I am particularly interested in agroforestry, the application of agroecological practices, and leveraging the potential of bamboo for environmental and economic sustainability. I am committed to advancing environmental sustainability and empowering communities, ensuring that development initiatives are both ecologically sound and socially just.
