Good luck with the process! I haven't tried to do so myself, so I don't have specific advice. However, it may be helpful to read articles on university sites. Some schools have blog articles with advice. If you want help refining the written portion of any applications, feel free to reach out.

Thank you for posting this Doug. I wonder if you could add a bit more information as to what sort of PhD you are looking for and if you have found any. @Thirza Loffeld @Kate I wonder if either of you have any general advice!

Hi Lize, 

Thanks, sorry for the late reply. Good question. I am applying for UK government funded (NERC) PhD studentships that are competitive on the basis of the students ability and enthusiasm for the project. I am enthusiastic alright, so I suppose a better question from me is whether you know anyone that has been through the application process for UK based DTP studentships so that I can get an idea of the process.
