Dear WildHub Community,

I hope you are all doing well.

Over the years, our community has grown into an incredible network of like-minded professionals, conservationists, and researchers. I truly appreciate being part of this community, and today I'd like to ask for a small favor. I am looking for opportunities to pursue further studies through a part-time program, preferably one that is fully funded/partially funded or has affordable tuition fees. Due to my current financial situation and job schedule, I am unable to afford expensive programs, so I am specifically looking for options that are financially accessible while allowing me to continue working. If anyone knows of:
  • Universities offering affordable or funded part-time programs,
  • Professors/Assistant Professors who are accepting foreign students,
  • Scholarships/funding opportunities for working professionals,
I would be very grateful if you could share any leads with me.
You can reach me via:
Thank you in advance for your support and kindness. I sincerely appreciate any guidance or connections you can share.

Best regards,
Suhail Bashir

Hi Suhail,

Thank you for sharing your goals with the community. To help members suggest suitable opportunities, could you please provide a few additional details?

  • Which countries are you considering for your studies? Are you looking only within the UAE, or would you be open to relocating if you could continue your current work remotely?
  • What specific area of environmental science are you most interested in pursuing?
  • Would you be interested in online or hybrid programs as well?
  • Are you hoping to join an already funded research project, or do you have your own research proposal and potential supervisors or institutions in mind?

These details will make it much easier for community members to share relevant programs, funding opportunities, and contacts. Wishing you the very best in your search!

Thank you so much for your response and for taking the time to ask these questions, dear Flavia.

  1. I am open to opportunities in any country, as long as the program is part-time/hybrid, so I can continue my current job in the UAE. Relocating full-time is not an option at the moment due to my work and financial commitments.
  2. My area of interest is a particular focus on environmental management, environmental impact assessment/sustainability, and biodiversity conservation.
  3. Yes, I would definitely be interested in online/hybrid programs if it is fine with the provider and the coursework will be decided after any further communication.
  4. I am open to both options, joining an existing funded research project/developing my own research proposal with the guidance of a suitable supervisor. At this stage, I don't have a confirmed supervisor/institution in mind and would be grateful for any leads or recommendations.

I truly appreciate any suggestions/connections the community can share.

Regards,

Suhail Bashir

Hi Suhail,

You might want to check out FindAPhD. It’s a great site for searching both funded and self-funded PhD opportunities, and you can filter by discipline, country, and institution to find options that fit your situation and interests.

That’s actually how I found my own fully funded PhD back in 2018, so I can definitely recommend giving it a look.

Best of luck!
