Do you know a wildlife conservationist who is making an impact in their home country, and for whom funding and international recognition would be game-changing?
The search for our next cohort of Whitley Award winners has started. We're looking to support conservation leaders who are:
- Leading a grassroots conservation project in the Global South
- Partnering with communities to inspire action
- Seeking to scale up science-led solutions
What is a Whitley Award?
Whitley Awards are WFN's flagship prize and are awarded to effective, mid-career conservationists working and living in the Global South. The Award support community-based projects which are poised for scale up and use the latest available science to benefit wildlife, people and the climate. These coveted prizes are won competitively following assessment by an expert judging panel and are presented by our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, at a ceremony held in London. Our next Awards ceremony will take place during Spring 2024.
What impact does winning a Whitley Award have?
Winning a Whitley Award can be a life-changing moment in a conservationist's career, welcoming them to the world stage, garnering media attention, opening political doors and inspiring philanthropic support from new sources, kickstarting a snowball effect.
Our 2024 Whitley Award will winners receive:
- £40,000 in project funding over one year
- Global media spotlight on their work
- Career development support and training
- Access to a 200 strong peer network across 80 Global South countries
- Professional communications and media training
- Tailor-made films, PR assistance and publicity materials
- Eligibility for laddered Continuation Funding and the Whitley Gold Award
