I am a veterinarian by background, with a Masters in Conservation Medicine and now working in conservation and research. I currently work in wild koala population management in south-east Queensland, Australia and have experience coordinating projects. I have become increasingly interested in the implications of our conservation efforts on human communities, particularly women and other marginalised groups within them. I would love to learn more about managing conservation projects, particularly in a way that prioritises the integration of equity and diversity.
I have recently completed my BSc in Animal Biology at the University of Gloucestershire. Before undertaking a Masters next year I am taking a year out to gain training and knowledge in areas I feel I need to develop such as Project Management. My main interests lie in large mammal conservation and I recently undertook fieldwork at a wildlife reserve in South Africa.
For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to the conservation and research of orangutans, spanning across the rich ecosystems of both Borneo and Sumatra. Currently serving as Programme Manager Indonesia, my focus revolves around forest protection, employing a holistic landscape conservation approach. With a PhD in Anthropology, my journey involved immersing in the Indonesian jungles for over five years, meticulously gathering behavioral data primarily on orangutans, as well as other primates. My passion lies in enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of conservation efforts. I am interested in innovative community development methods, alongside the integration of cutting-edge technologies for forest restoration, and the robust monitoring and evaluation of project impacts.
