Extensive experience and scientific and research training in management and execution of wildlife conservation projects, with special emphasis on threatened vertebrate species in the neotropical region. Experience in zoological operations, animal welfare and wildlife management ex situ and in situ.
I am Placide MASENGESHO and I am Rwandan . I have Bachelor of Science in Biology with qualification in Botany and conservation. I am 28 researcher in wildlife conservation society.
I have 22 years of leadership experience in raptor research and conservation, project management and execution, capacity building, policy, publications, media, stewardship and fundraising covering four continents with proven success. My work has been recognized by international awards including the Whitley Award. I have
experience running an International high impact non-profit organization whilst inspiring and motivating our Board of Directors. I am a dedicated, organized and methodical professional with excellent networks, interpersonal and communication skills. I am a reliable team leader, strategist and effective negotiator. I focus on new and creative approaches to solving problems. I am a critical thinker and visionary,
and have a holistic, active and dynamic approach to getting things done. I am well traveled in over 30 countries, multilingual and an accomplished speaker with a TED talk with over one million views.
I have nearly 30 years experience working in conservation, often at the interface with sustainable human development. I have lead teams, programmes, and sometimes thinking, at, amongst others, WWF, ZSL and now at Save the Rhino International. I have particular skills in conceiving, designing, implementing and evaluating conservation strategies and interventions. I have a particular interest in identifying and trying to answer some of the 'big' questions around conservation in the 21st century.
I'm a Trustee of WildTeam UK - an organisation providing conservationists with the training and skills needed to design and deliver their projects. I am also Director of the Whitley Fund for Nature - a London-based charity offering conservation leaders across the Global South funding (Awards), training and profile boost.
