While my academic background is rooted in microbiology, my passion for ecosystem restoration has driven me to immerse myself in conservation biology. My experience spans marine forest conservation, safeguarding lowland and upland forest species, and currently extends to African savannah grasslands. I am deeply committed to community-based restoration, biodiversity conservation, and promoting wildlife economies.

My name is Lakew Melkamu. I am a Wildlife Tourism Manager at Simien Mountains National Park, working under the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority. I hold a degree in Ecotourism and Wildlife Management from Hawassa University and Masters Degree in Tourism Management from Debark University. My work is deeply rooted in wildlife conservation protecting biodiversity while promoting responsible tourism. I’m passionate about creating a balance between conservation efforts and visitor engagement, ensuring that tourism supports, rather than harms, our protected areas. Hello everyone, My name is Grey Jared, and I am a biological sciences student with a passion for conserving nature. I have keen interest in the way animals interact with the ecosystem to create a seamlessly functioning system. However, as humans are corrupted in mind and are major contributor to ecosystem degradation, I am motivated to be the link between the two. Thus, to collaborate with like-minded people to work together to bring awareness and conserve the environment, at the same time preserving endangered species.

I am Mahi Puri, originally from India. I currently live in Saipan (a small Pacific Island, near Guam where my husband is pursuing PhD in Marine Biology), while I work remotely for Cincinnati Zoo as a Coexistence Scientist. I completed my PhD in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from University of Florida, integrating ecological and social science methods to prioritize areas for carnivore conservation in human-dominated landscapes of central India. At Cincinnati Zoo, I work with their global in-situ conservation program, supporting various partners in capacity building and research support. I also lead the zoo's Fellowship Program where I mentor and guide Fellows (from local communities) working on various research projects including elephants in Thailand and India, gorilla-based ecotourism in Congo, human-carnivore conflict mapping in Kenya, songbirds monitoring in Ohio etc. I help the Fellows develop their Theories of Change and execute their projects over a 2-year period including data collection, analysis and writing. I would like to improve my training skills related to project planning, MEL etc, hence this course.   In my free time, I love making pottery, going hiking or scuba diving, or reading on my couch while snuggling with my two cats! :)

I'm from Peru but I'm currently based in Liverpool, where I’m finishing my Zoology degree. I’ve always loved wildlife, all of it! I have been involved in everything from field vole research and pest management, to marine megafauna work in Wales, animal care for endangered species in Jersey, development of a cultural-wildlife educational product for children, and habitat/surveying work for birds, lizards, and bats!
