Fotsing Ernest Dadis Bush
Scientist/Conservation Biologist, Swiss institute for Bioinformtics/University of Fribourg
I am Zoologist, ecologist and conservation biologist now specialised in Bioinformatic with focus on biomonitoring, ecological survey and modeling of biodiversity and conservation data to inform conservation Management. I like project designing and management, biodiversity research and conservation strategy develloppement.
Experienced Planner and Environmental Professional with over 5 years expertise in Natural Resource Management Planning (Land, Forest, Water Sources, Wildlife). My expertise lies in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and Data Management, which I have honed through hands- on work in public, private, and international development sectors. Skilled in conducting action research, fostering stakeholder collaboration and advocacy for policy inclusion to address socio-economic disparities. Adept at leveraging data analysis and visualization tools to inform evidence-based interventions and drive sustainable development. Committed to promoting social equity, empowering community voices and fostering holistic well-being in diverse environments.
The opportunity to travel and grow up internationally instilled in me a passion for wildlife and connecting people to nature. I decided very early on that I wanted to pursue a career in conservation, and have undertaken a BSc in Applied Zoology and an MSc in Endangered Species Recovery and Conservation. While at university, I was able to build a range of skills, including conducting surveys, species monitoring, and using GIS. Moreover, I discovered a love of research and how projects are planned and executed efficiently.
I have worked in various roles since graduating from university, including as an Assistant Ecologist. Currently, I work as part of a forest school, where children are encouraged to spend time in nature and their passions are fostered.
I am undertaking this course to broaden my experience and understanding of project management, helping me set up future projects aimed at connecting people to the world they live in and empowering communities to be part of positive change.
A Conservation Biologist who enjoys working with birds as focal species to better understand and contribute to the conservation of the natural world. My work often includes a combination of fieldwork, citizen science, capacity building and some scientific writing. A strong academic and research background has helped me to appreciate the need for a science-driven approach to biodiversity conservation, while several years of working with various professionals, citizen scientists and local communities to design and implement biodiversity conservation projects has given me first-hand insight into the crucial role and importance of empowering and working with people if we must achieve sustainable natural resource management. I also really enjoy the opportunities that studying birds affords me to travel and see the world, and the diverse people and cultures that I have been privileged to experience and work with because of my study of birds.
