I work for department of Wildlife and National Parks, under the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism in Botswana. i am the head of Multilateral Environmental Agreements Unit. In addition, i act as a department focal project officer for UNDP programme which aims to address human wildlife interface in the western part of Botswana, the project has 3 components (projects). i sit on TRG meetings and also report progress to my superiors. i have more than 15 years in wildlife conservation, most of the years i spent working as Park Ranger within the park and it happened that i supervised most of the projects undertaken within the park and its proximity. for example Northern Botswana Human Wildlife Co-existence that aimed to reduce human wildlife conflict in the Chobe District.

Hello Maureen, this is really interesting, i like it. Am from Botswana, the country that has big population of elephants and high human elephant conflict. i like it where you emphasis community needs first approach and species needs second. oftentimes, we make mistake by putting animals' needs in front and forget the needs of the people we want to co-exist with wildlife. i wish to learn from you how you address this issue of human elephant conflict in Kenya.
