I am an environmentalist with five years of experience in biodiversity conservation and wildlife management. The pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology marked a monumental step in shaping my professional journey in conservation. In 2019, I co-founded Kang4Nature, a volunteer youth group dedicated to executing environmental restoration projects in Nairobi, Kenya. This initiative showcased my leadership potential and eventually led me to assume the role of Programs Manager at CHD Conservation Kenya a grassroots organization committed to fostering public engagement in conservation through education and awareness programs, citizen research, and sustainable enterprise development. In this capacity, I have refined my skills in various areas, including curriculum development for youth engagement in conservation, promoting diversity and inclusion of indigenous women and girls in rangelands, stakeholder engagement, partnership cultivation, and fundraising. My commitment to leadership growth led me to participate in the Women in Conservation Leadership fellowship offered by the Centre for Protected Area Management at Colorado State University and the Project Management in Global Health program offered by the University of Washington. These experiences, along with my recent accomplishment of attaining a Master of Philosophy in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge, have contributed significantly to my skill set. While studying at the University of Cambridge, I collaborated with Fauna & Flora, an international conservation organization. My role involved developing guiding recommendations to promote gender-transformative approaches within the conservation sector. Additionally, I provided consulting services to UNEP-WCMC, where I focused on devising innovative strategies to turning complex National Ecosystem Assessment (NEA) reports into impactful Summary for Policy Markers (SPMs). My journey reflects a blend of academic rigor, hands-on experience, and a profound commitment to driving positive change in conservation.

Sanjana Paul is the executive director and co-founder of The Earth Hacks Foundation. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and physics, and is currently working on engineering problems at NASA. Previously, she worked as an NSF REU participant in extreme ultraviolet engineering in the Kapteyn-Murnane Lab in JILA at the University of Colorado Boulder, and as a Conservation Innovation Fellow at Conservation X Labs. When not shooting lasers around or coding solutions to climate issues, she likes exploring the outdoors and baking delicious treats.

I have a lifelong fascination and love for all things zoological which began at an early age, as I grew up on a "diet" of nature and wildlife documentaries from Animal Planet, National Geographic, The Discovery Channel, and more. My most recent work experience has mostly been within laboratory animal husbandry. My true passion, however, has been within the realm of wildlife conservation, and after a series of short-lived jobs within laboratory work, I decided to close that door, and finally pursue my "true calling". Ideally, I am looking for a full-time job which may utilize writing or photography to promote the conservation of wildlife worldwide. The aspects of wildlife conservation I am most passionate about are the protection of biodiversity, and endangered/threatened species, education and public outreach, and human-wildlife conflict. I have a B.S. degree in Zoology, and an M.S. in Environmental Studies (concentration: Conservation Biology). Over the course of my studies, I have gained experience in performing and analyzing field research.  Among the skills I have developed are Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and the programming language R. I also participated in a study abroad in southern Africa, taking part in field work involving species abundance and diversity. As a requirement of my M.S. degree, I completed a thesis in which I explored the impact of realistic coyote models and samples of coyote urine on deer behavior as a means to decrease their browsing in residential areas. Currently, I am a volunteer Writer for the New England Primate Conservancy, and a Biodiversity Writer intern at Biodiversity for a Livable Climate. All-in-all, I am leveraging experience in technical/scientific/creative writing, project management, data collection, and wildlife photography. I am extremely responsible, organized, creative, and a hard-working individual who loves learning new skills. My photography has also been credited by organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, and Zoo New England. Working in conservation was always my dream job! It took me a while to get there but fast forward some years and I was leading conservation programmes and teams around the world. During my time in that role I realised that I was both at risk of burnout and had become a little disconnected from the day-to-day conservation impact that I was passionate about. However, I loved developing, supporting and coaching the teams I managed and decided to re-train as a coach so that I could spend more time focusing on supporting others to excel in their role and remain passionate and effective within the conservation sector. I joined WildHub to stay up-to-date with the conservation world, share my experiences and support conservation professionals however I can.

I am a recent graduate from the Wildlife Research and Training Institute, with a passion for conservation and a diverse set of skills honed through hands-on experience.  During my attachment program at Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park and my volunteer work with Reefolution Trust, I have gained invaluable expertise in:  Coral Restoration: Engaging in coral planting, nursery maintenance, and out-planting to rejuvenate marine ecosystems. Marine Debris Cleanups: Organizing and participating in cleanups to protect our oceans. Community Engagement: Facilitating group discussions and outreach programs to foster local involvement in conservation efforts. Data Collection and Entry: Gathering and managing data crucial for research and conservation projects. Human-Wildlife Conflict Resolution: Developing strategies to mitigate conflicts between humans and wildlife.  My interests are deeply rooted in:  Wildlife Protection: Advocating for and implementing measures to safeguard endangered species. Environmental Education: Sharing knowledge and raising awareness through my Twitter (X) page. Habitat Restoration: Participating in projects aimed at restoring damaged ecosystems. Community Engagement: Collaborating with local communities to develop sustainable conservation strategies. I am a wildlife film-maker and photographer from Kenya. Besides producing wildlife documentaries, we also publish coffee table books with Augmented Reality.  I run a company in Kenya, and we are also fixers for foreign productions wanting to come and film in Kenya. Looking forward to networking and meeting new people, possibilities of working together and also find platforms to showcase our content. I look forward to connecting with you.   Sabrina Brando PhD is the director of AnimalConcepts, including InterBeing, an online platform uniting people and organisations on 6 continents, combining animal, people, and planetary wellbeing. Sabrina is a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional and an Optimize Eudaimonia Coach, and has an MSc in Animal Studies. Her PhD at the University of Stirling in Scotland focussed on human wellbeing at an individual, team, leadership, and organisational level in animal wellbeing and conservation professionals. Sabrina is a graduate of the Inner MBA class for which she completed a project on creating a culture of care in the workplace.   Sabrina teaches at universities and works with zoos, aquariums, sanctuaries, and other facilities worldwide. She is a frequent keynote speaker and has organised over 500 events through AnimalConcepts since 2004. Sabrina has published popular and academic articles, and works with governments, writing policies and guidelines. She is the author of a book on ‘Optimal Welfare of Ageing Wild Animals in Human Care’ by Springer Nature. She is working on a forthcoming book by Taylor & Francis on wellbeing in animal care professionals and wildlife conservationists, informed by her 37+ years in the field and PhD research, together with the external AnimalConcepts team a book by Routledge on Animal Behaviour Training and Ethics for Animal Wellbeing Education Research and Conservation, and a book close to her heart with all the things she wishes she knew when starting in the field of animals and conservation, with the provisional title of Wild about self-care.   In 2018, Sabrina became a Chief Storyteller. She loves storytelling and writing - particularly about animals, the human-animal connection, and the natural world. She often wears a button with “I love stories” on it. This button sparks many great conversations and storytelling about animals, among many other topics, from people she meets at conferences to strangers on a plane. My research interests include the natural history & conservation ecology of small mammals, wild cats, Asian elephants, and tapirs, species responses to deforestation & habitat fragmentation, hunting & wildlife trade. I work at the interface between conservation science & applied wildlife management, using evidence-based approaches, statistical analysis, & technologies (EarthRanger, camera-trapping, acoustic sensors, RS imagery, SMART) to advise the conservation of wildlife populations in tropical Asia, Oceania and East Africa.

After a decade of training to be a wildlife conservationist, I founded Lonely Conservationists to help conservationists thrive by providing a platform to be heard, employment pathways and a strong community foundation. As well as running Lonely Conservationists, I teach sustainability incursions and excursions to school students in a classroom, forest and marine park environments.
