About Rekha Sathyan
My educational background includes a PhD, MSc (with Distinction), and BSc Honours in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology from the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa. I am deeply passionate about Biodiversity and Conservation Biology.
In terms of professional experience, I held two postdoctoral positions at the University of the Western Cape from 2019 to 2022. From February 2023 to April 2024, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Biodiversity Biobanks South Africa, SANBI, where I focused on inventory assessment, gap analysis, and strategic expansion. As part of my role in the BBSA gap analysis team, we focused on biodiversity biobanks in SA. This project involves coordinating data collection, analysis, and reporting.
