About Sophie Charles-Hoban
Passionate about people and our planet. | Marine Biology Research, Communication, & Education | University of Cambridge PGCE Alumni | Ocean Conservation - Marine Programs Officer for ifaw (UK)
Hi! My name is Sophie, and I am from London. I am a marine conservationist and program officer for The International Fund for Animal Welfare (you may know us as ifaw!) I have been in this role since last September and if I could go back and tell 10-year-old Sophie that she really did grow up to "save the whales" she would not believe me.... it really is a dream come true!
I live between the UK and USA, and my previous experience includes teaching college-level biology education, and in a university zoological museum institute, working in an aquarium on dolphin rehabilitation and sea turtle rescue, and now full-time as a marine conservationist for an international non-profit.
I am super enthusiastic about all things migratory marine megafauna - research, conservation and education, and my absolute favourite animal on the planet is the majestic Oceanic Manta Ray!
