Hi all,

I currently work as a free-lance ecologist, before that I worked in ecological consultacy for 3 years. Hi all, my name is Kat and I’m here as a career changer diving into the world of wildlife conservation. I’m currently volunteering at a UK zoo that’s an official non-EAZA EEP participant, involved in four EEPs and two ESBs. I’m also volunteering with a local trust on habitat restoration for pollinators and monitoring butterflies as biodiversity indicators.

Alongside this, I’ve been studying applied animal behaviour, which has deepened my passion for species that often get misunderstood or overlooked, like hyenas, vultures, foxes, and wolves. I hope to work with any of them directly one day, ideally through fieldwork and public education.

In September, I’ll start a conservation degree here in the UK, which I hope will give me more hands-on experience. I’m taking this WildTeam course to build a solid foundation in project management, which I imagine will be useful in pretty much any area of conservation I end up in!

In my spare time, I love creative writing, nature photography, and live music. Really looking forward to learning alongside you all.

Hello everyone, my name is Alessio Mocci, I've recently complete a MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation with a focus on Marine Ecology and Conservation at Queen Mary University of London, UK. I have a medical background, I have worked in surgery for many years but my professional life has now taken a different direction. Marine biology and ecology have always been my passion despite a busy medical career. The MSc has given me the opportunity to work on a research project on spatio-temporal distribution of marine megafauna (mainly sea turtles and sharks) in a marine protected area in Cabo Verde, using drone technology. I have also spent 10 days on site collaborating with a local NGO, doing beach patrols and collect data on nesting sea turtles and attending workshops on shark ecology, sea birds ecology and sustainable fishing. I have also spent one week with an NGO in my home town in Italy, where I helped with rescuing sea turtles. I'm currently applying for PhD programs in marine ecology and conservation.

In the spare time I like spending time as close as possible to the sea, swimming and scuba diving. When this is not possible, I like hiking and cycling.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to complete this course and I'm lookin forward to learn as much as I can from other fellow conservationists!

I'd like to share the links to the two marine conservation NGOs I've had the privilege to work with on the island of Sal in Cabo Verde and in Ravenna, Italy, my home town. Please check them out, they do a great job!

Hi, I am Navin Das from India. I work with the Raptor Conservation Porgramme, WWF-India. The Raptor Conservation Programme works towards the conservation of the lesser-known raptor kingdom in India. It focuses on building a safe area for these majestic species. My role in this project is to break down the science into layman terms to communicate it with the masses and to influence the policymakers.

Joining this coursework is a step to understand the holistic approach of a project. I have seen my manager burdened with a lot of work, and that hampers her organic ability to function at her potential. Learning the various frameworks of a project management is definitely going to help me to help her and the success of the project.
Nevertheless, learning new things is my passion. I hope we all can achieve our project goals and thus help this planet breathe again.
