Bouncing Back from the Winter Blues

Bouncing Back from the Winter Blues

(Pandemic fatigue + winter (dark + cold) + new year pressure + rising bills) - (Christmas cheer - treats - sunshine - time off) = that 'meh' feeling

Anyone noticing this?

As the nights are finally starting to be a little bit lighter and tomorrow is the start of February, here's some tips to start shaking-off the January blues it off:

- Keep track of small, joyful moments - a smile from a loved one, praise from a colleague etc.
- Drink more water, eat more fruit+veg and take Vitamin D supplements.
- Plan a mini adventure - doesn't need to be a holiday, could be a walk somewhere you've not been before - just something to look forward to!
- Be specific, so you can feel like you are moving forwards with your goal, e.g. if you want to 'get fit' this year, plan something tangible and manageable like a 10 minute walk after every meal, or a weekly walk with a friend.
- Move every hour and get outside for at least 15 mins a day.
- Share how you're feeling with a friend.
- Plan just one thing a day you want to achieve, so you don't feel overwhelmed, and have a sense of achievement at the end of the day!
- Take baby steps! Remember that tomorrow is a new day where you get to try something different to shake off the 'meh'.

I'd love to know in the comments what's in your equation, especially if you have positives to add and tips for surviving winter

I love this! Still relevant, even at the start of March! :) Especially after the storms we have had recently in the UK! Thanks for sharing.
