Free webinar: The Road Towards Predicting Sturgeon Migration
Join us on 12 June 2025 for “The Road Towards Predicting Sturgeon Migration” - a webinar on how agent-based modelling and GIS are helping map Beluga sturgeon movements in the Danube Delta and why this matters for their survival.
Combining research on modelling Beluga sturgeon migration with GIS expertise has put sturgeon migration on the map. Wrap it all into a web application, and you have a promising tool to support the sturgeon conservation unit in the Danube Delta, Romania.
This webinar is hosted by Nature FIRST, an EU-funded project combining forensic intelligence, environmental data, and remote sensing technologies to monitor, detect, and prevent biodiversity loss. By developing digital twins and smart tools, the project enables proactive conservation actions in vulnerable ecosystems like the Danube Delta.

In this interactive session, we will cover:
- How the Agent-Based Model is helping us decode the complex migration patterns of Beluga sturgeon.
- The role of data collection, mapping, and visualisation in creating an interactive user experience with the model.
- The power of collaboration in translating scientific research into practical, technology-driven tools for conservation.
See you there!!
