I live in Kenya, where I was born. I love nature, seeing things grow, and a healthy ecosystem gives me satisfaction. I am a graduate of a bachelor's and master's degrees in wildlife management. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student in Environmental Governance and Management at the University of Nairobi. I work at Karatina University as a tutorial fellow in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality. I am currently seeking to switch career from academia to become a practitioner in environmental conservation. For this reason, I joined wildHub to gain training in project management and other skills that will help me transit successfully. The wildHub community is also a good forum for networking. I believe that I can get to meet people who work in conservation and can be future collaborators in research and projects implementation. I am currently looking for a job opportunity in an organization that works in environmental conservation. I have mostly done research on human-lion conflict mitigation but I would be willing to work in any field of environmental conservation. This includes the conservation of aquatic ecosystems because I really love water. Being an educator I would like to support WildHub in any way possible in conducting training.
I have been doing research on lions in the Amboseli ecosystem in Kenya. Where communities regularly kill lions in retaliation for livestock predation. I have to put myself in the shoes of these people to understand the context, for personally I would cry for a lion.
I am an expert in tourism and environmental conservation, with a Masters in Wildlife Conservation. I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Governance at the University of Nairobi. My current research project is on human-lion conflict. I believe that successful integration of conservation, tourism, and livestock keeping is only possible if each form of land use is given equal attention. Governance arrangements that are based on the local community are likely to be more fruitful in achieving win-win outcomes. I am a lecturer of sustainable tourism and environmental conservation at Karatina University. My greatest passion is to see sustainable development for economies that are based on natural resources. I mobilize people to invest and undertake activities that provide solutions to everyday challenges like energy-saving appliances while at the same time helping combat climate change and global warming in the long term.
