I am a wildlife ecologist with a background in ecology, psychology, and conservation biology. I have over a decade of experience supporting biodiversity conservation in various contexts working across the ecological and social sciences in India and Liberia (West Africa). My strengths include designing and implementing biodiversity monitoring programmes, stakeholder engagement, transboundary conservation, community-based natural resource management, strategic communication, proposal development, fundraising, grant management, project coordination, capacity building, and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems. In addition, I have supported the implementation of conservation interventions focused on protected area management, OneHealth, policy development and sustainable livelihood. My research interest is working at the intersection of conservation science and policy development to balance developmental and environmental objectives within a sustainable development framework.

Additionally, I actively participate as a volunteer for the Nigerian Bird Atlas Project, a vital initiative led by the AP Leventis Ornithological Research Institute in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria. Furthermore, I contribute my time and efforts as a volunteer at the Biodiversity Preservation Center in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. My passion for nature extends beyond my academic and volunteer commitments. I find joy in immersing myself in the wilderness, whether it be in the field or forest, where I engage in activities such as planting trees and capturing captivating photographs that showcase the beauty of our natural world. My passion lies at the intersection of wildlife conservation, environmental management, and ornithology. Hello Everyone! I am a corporate Administrative professional with a work experience of almost 18 years. However, parallel to my corporate jobs, I am from the field of Animal Welfare since 30 years and have been a part of Small Animal Street Dog Population Management, Vaccinations of Street Animals, Rescue and Rehabilitation of Physically Challenged Cats and Dogs. I have been active on field with Rescues, Neutering and treatment of injured and ailing street cats and dogs. For 16 years I was also a voluntary care-taker of a Cattery which provided a permanent shelter to physically challenged cats. I have always been intrigued and drawn towards Wildlife and found Human – Animal Interface, Environmental Enrichment of Animals Bred in Captivity & of those Rescued from severe Abuse for Human Benefit , Conservation of Species and Habitats of Interest and Importance. I would like to consider a Career Change into Wildlife Conservation for the 2nd innings of My Life, thus, making a start with acquiring professional knowledge in the field of Wildlife Conservation. I am a First class graduate in Microbiology and Biochemistry, volunteered at Veterinary clinics, and also hold a great interest in Veterinary medicines and ways of handling, capture, anaethesia of wild animals. All Animals exhibit varying behaviours when under stress or they need to be relocated and it is truly amazing to see and learn how veterinary professionals, conservationists, animal handlers, work in perfect co-ordination thereby driving success of any task that needs to be completed. I have a lot to learn from this training and many who have been in the field of Wildlife Conservation and I look forward to building my knowledge and skills and contribute subsequently utilizing my corporate acquired skills and the knowledge on Wildlife Conservation that I gain.

Welcome to my page! My name is Michelle Parsons, and I'm excited to share with you my passion for conservation. I hold a BSc in Zoology with Conservation from Bangor University and currently work as a Senior Bat Advisor, Project Coordinator for the Volunteer Bat Care Helpline (VBCH) & VBRV Lead at the Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) in the UK. I've been fortunate enough to work in various roles within the Bat Conservation Trust, starting out as a Volunteer Engagement Officer for the National Bat Monitoring Programme (NBMP), Survey Administration Officer for the BatsinChurches Project, and as an NBMP Project Volunteer. I currently work on the National Bat Helpline, where I provide advice and support to the public regarding bats. I also play a key role in recruiting and training volunteers for the Volunteer Bat Care Helpline, who handle many of the bat care enquiries we receive through the helpline. Beyond my work with BCT, I also contribute as a Social Media Officer for the London Bat Group, helping to promote awareness and engagement across digital platforms. I'm always eager to learn more and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field, which is why I regularly attend webinars and training courses on a range of important topics. I have completed Grant Writing & Project Management for Wildlife Conservation courses and am currently enrolled on the Project Planning course.
