Conservation Education Center
I am looking for possible partners to set up a conservation education centre with the following Aims and Objectives.
Aim: Encourage a dynamic equilibrium between man and his environment by promoting community based sustainable, and participatory, environmental conservatory projects which would improve utilisation of existing nature resources, biodiversity, as well as improve the livelihood of those who depend on the renewable natural resources
Objectives:
1. 1.To promote conservation education at the grassroots level by increasing environmental awareness among rural communities and demonstrating that conservation is a shared responsibility rather than an elitist endeavor.
2. To build community capacity for sustainable natural resource management through training, workshops, and practical demonstrations on responsible use of forests, wildlife, water resources, and other components of biodiversity.
3. To encourage community-based and participatory conservation initiatives that actively involve local residents in protecting, restoring, and managing their natural environment.
4. To bridge the gap between scientific conservation knowledge and traditional ecological practices by creating platforms for dialogue and collaboration between scientists, local communities, and traditional institutions.
5. To promote biodiversity conservation and habitat restoration through initiatives such as indigenous tree nurseries, ecosystem rehabilitation programs, and protection of community-conserved areas.
6. To foster human–wildlife coexistence by educating communities on the ecological importance of wildlife and appropriate responses to wildlife encounters, thereby reducing conflict and preventing unnecessary killing of wildlife.
7. To demonstrate the economic value of biodiversity by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities linked to conservation, including ecotourism, agroforestry, nature-based enterprises, and environmental services.
8. To establish a wildlife rescue and awareness platform that promotes wildlife welfare, provides support for injured or distressed wildlife, and strengthens public understanding of wildlife conservation.
9. To encourage citizen science and biodiversity monitoring by engaging local residents, students, and volunteers in documenting species diversity and environmental changes within their communities.
10. To inspire and nurture future conservation leaders by involving schools, youth groups, and community organizations in environmental education programs, conservation activities, and nature-based learning experiences.
11. To serve as a hub for environmental research, training, and outreach that supports evidence-based conservation strategies and informs sustainable environmental policy and practice in Nigeria.
Can I please have your opinions on these aims and objectives?
