About Chantal Whitten
I am a Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarian currently working at Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital in Northern NSW, Australia. We are a NFP organisation providing free veterinary care to sick and injured wildlife in our area. We work closely with wildlife care groups and other wildlife veterinary organisations within our area to provide positive welfare outcomes for wildlife. Our aim is to rehabilitate as many animals back into the wild as possible. We have been running for 3 years and it's my hope in the future that we will work with other stakeholders on conservation projects in situ for threatened species.
When I am not working I love volunteering for conservation organisations overseas. I have spent time working for the Gili Islands Eco Trust, Bornean Orangutan Survival Foundation and I am just about to go back to Borneo to do some dental work on Orangutans for Orangutan Foundation International.

Great article@Fleur Morton and@Ashton Berry so many things about your career inspire me
I love this. I myself am so passionate about bird conservation. As a wildlife vet I look back on all my experiences and would have loved to have done a degree in veterinary conservation and ecology but it does not exist. My dream is to work with bird life Australia. Great interview. 🙏
Welcome to WildHub, Hope! I wish you the best in your studies.
@Anna Marzec @Sonya Kahlenberg @Feliicty Oram @Chantal Whitten any advice?
Hi Hope,
BOS (Bornean Orangutan Survival Foundation) and OFI (Orangutan Foundation International) have very successful reintroduction programs in Borneo. You could reach out to those organisations for some information, contacts and possible literature.
Hope this helps
