Hello Julia!
Welcome to the WildHub community! It’s fantastic to have someone with your diverse background in entomology research, environmental education, and urban regenerative agriculture join us. Your passion for environmental justice and rewilding landbank properties aligns beautifully with many of the conversations happening here.
I’d love to hear—what inspired your focus on rewilding landbank properties, and how do you envision this contributing to broader environmental justice efforts?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and having you as part of our community!
Hi Amanda,
I'm glad to hear it!
I worked for a nonprofit as the urban agriculture director, and we had several landbank properties that I turned into urban gardens and educational spaces in a community with very little green space or access to ecological educational opportunities. This issue still weighs on my heart, but I would love to take a rewilding spin on the landbank properties rather than just creating gardens there. Cincinnati already has a thriving urban garden community that is rapidly growing through orgs such as the Civic Garden Center, but I would love to see wildlife and habitat conservation/restoration being done on "unused" land before it is sold for development.
Hi Julia! Excited you're a member and would enjoy learning more about rewilding and development. Welcome <3
Thank you Chrissy!
