Hi!  I am an earth advocate who is passionate about saving our Oceans. I am HSA certified and help disabled veterans heal through the power of the water via SCUBA as a scuba buddy.  I am also part of the leadership team of DEEP foundation Inc. Where we connect families to the environment through conservation education and engaging in local clean up efforts. Often partnering with local National Park for conservation events. My favorite being Coralpalooza and dives against debris. 

I am a highly driven conservation scientist with experience working in the environment, tourism, and conservation fields. In addition, I am also a BEAPA Certified Environmental Assessment Practitioner. My contribution to conservation is through both social science and natural science, with several academic journals, focusing much on Biodiversity conservation and rural livelihood nexus.  Throughout my career, I have a proven track record of coordinating conservation projects for several non-governmental organizations (NGOs), where I gained valuable experience in natural resource management. I coordinated and managed project activities, developed and implemented stakeholder engagement initiatives, and formed alliances with the government, agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders in the conservation sector. As a certified Environmental Assessment Practitioner by the Botswana Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association (BEAPA), I have successfully carried out a number of EIAs and EMPs projects. My work contributed significantly to long-term environmental protection solutions.

While still working as a Teaching assistant and recently joining the Butterfly Conservation as a volunteer and setting up my own Transect I wanted to have a better understanding of Conservation to enable me to help the wild animals in desperate need.  Doing a biology degree over 20 years ago I felt like I needed a more current Conservation understanding  to help the butterflies and moths which I love.  I look forward to starting the course.

The BioversNG Workshop empowered me with invaluable insights and skills over six transformative weeks, enabling me to contribute more effectively to protecting Nigeria's rich biodiversity. Now, as the Operations Room Assistant with WCS Nigeria at Yankari Game Reserve, I'm excited to leverage this knowledge and experience in a practical and impactful way. Combining hands-on fieldwork experience with ecological principles and waste management strategies, I champion climate action and promote peace initiatives. As co-founder of the Ecology Students Forum at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, I facilitate meaningful discussions advancing ecological knowledge and exploring ways to leverage insights for broader climate resilience and peace-building endeavors. Hi, I'm Paul Chinyama a dedicated conservationist with a profound love for nature and a strong commitment to preserving biodiversity. My journey in conservation began with my passion for exploring wildlife, which has since evolved into a career focused on habitat restoration and species protection. With over four years of experience and a Bachelor of science in wildlife conservation and natural resource management, I have developed expertise in designing and implementing effective conservation programs. My work at African Parks leads me to a significant increase in native bird populations through habitat restoration efforts. I'm excited about the opportunity to contribute to preserve wildlife and continue making a positive impact on the environment.

My research focus is the cultural and utilitarian ways rural communities value wildlife with a focus on endangered apes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I used mixed methods including doing interviews with community members and reconnaissance walks in adjacent village forests. My goal is to work for a conservation organization that partners with communities to find conservation solutions and implement initiatives that benefit both people and animals relevant to the local context. 

I am a recent graduate from the Wildlife Research and Training Institute, with a passion for conservation and a diverse set of skills honed through hands-on experience.  During my attachment program at Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park and my volunteer work with Reefolution Trust, I have gained invaluable expertise in:  Coral Restoration: Engaging in coral planting, nursery maintenance, and out-planting to rejuvenate marine ecosystems. Marine Debris Cleanups: Organizing and participating in cleanups to protect our oceans. Community Engagement: Facilitating group discussions and outreach programs to foster local involvement in conservation efforts. Data Collection and Entry: Gathering and managing data crucial for research and conservation projects. Human-Wildlife Conflict Resolution: Developing strategies to mitigate conflicts between humans and wildlife.  My interests are deeply rooted in:  Wildlife Protection: Advocating for and implementing measures to safeguard endangered species. Hi everyone! I am here to continue learning as I transition from mostly being in zoos as both a keeper and trainer to full time conservation roles. I will be moving from the US to Costa Rica soon and looking to find work to do there. I am a huge bird nerd but love working with pretty much any animal out there.
