I joined WildHub as part of my course "Project Planning for wildlife conservation". I am a career switcher interested in switching to a conservation career. My background is mostly in Synthetic and molecular Biology and biotechnology. I have a bachelor in Biology where I excelled in subjects like Zoology, ecology, and botanics. I have been an avid animals and plant lover for my whole life and I am approaching this field considering a switch in career. I am particularly into birds and bird conservation.

Hi there! I'm based in London (Irish citizen, from Galway). I studied Applied Marine and Freshwater Science and graduated in 2016. I worked in this field, took part in research surveys (oceanography and cetacean sightings) and did some volunteering in marine conservation. Since moving to London in 2018, my career shifted to corporate, start up, and small businesses, working as an Exec Assistant and Project Manager.  Conservation and Animal Behaviour and Welfare is still a big passion of mine and I want to immerse myself back in this line of work! In order to do this, I need to up-skill and become more educated with the current climate of Wildlife Conservation; What are the challenges being faced, what skills are required to tackle these and how can I use my current set of skills to move my career in this direction - this is what has led me to WildHub 🙂 I'm actively seeking employment in this industry and willing to start at entry level if required (e.g. apprenticeship) so if you do know of any opportunities, please get in touch, I'd love to talk more! 

I'm Liane, and I am a WildLearning Specialist at WildTeam! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all! For the last few years, I've been working in Seychelles, focusing on island and marine conservation efforts, particularly coral restoration and turtle nesting monitoring. If you ask me questions about coral, be prepared for me to get very nerdy about it! Prior to that, I was managing a project in Northern Thailand, where I worked closely with a local community to set up ethical elephant experiences in their village. In my free time, I love running and hiking, and being anywhere in nature. I have also learnt to freedive in the last few years and enjoy doing that when possible. I'm really interested in talking to different people and learning from them and their unique experiences.

A large part of my role is keeping track of ongoing projects (e.g. residentials, online workshops, training programmes, to name a few), which can become very complex. This course could be the best insight into how to effectively manage projects year-round, and provide me with suggestions and extensive resources. New teachings could also expand the work BTO Youth does and bring with it new project planning ideas. WildHub also sounds fantastic! My background is mainly in species conservation, education and capacity exchange. I researched mother-young interactions in gorillas and chimpanzees, in captivity and the wild. After that, I worked for three years in Indonesia, where I developed and implemented youth ambassador and community engagement programmes on local and regional scales. I co-founded WildHub, a community of nature conservation professionals, in 2020 and work as their Community Lead. I am furthermore on the Advisory Board of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) at the University of Kent where I obtained my PhD on capacity development for conservation in 2022.
