Hi. I’m the team leader and founder of Oceans Alive working with on the Kenya coast and our passionate team focusses of Community based natural resource management. We are presently working on the 270 km of the Kilifi County coastline and are working with the various Beach Management Units to set up Collaborative Managed Areas or all . Our journey continues as we upscale from the first LMMA that we set up as Kuruwitu Conservation and Welfare CBO in 2006
Debs has been working with schools and community groups for over 16 years. She is passionate about environmental, youth and well-being projects and has gained a great deal of experience in developing, funding, delivering and managing these areas while working with Groundwork Trusts between 2011 and 2018 as well as local authorities and youth and environmental charities.

Cleo has an M.Sc. in Applied Animal Behaviour & Animal Welfare from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (University of Edinburgh) and a B.Sc. in Animal Biology from Stirling University (UK). She has extensive experience in assisting and managing complex research projects for multiple research institutes and private laboratories. She has built up a strong technical background in the South African Bushveld deciphering wild animal behaviour and bio-acoustics, in cancer research and behind an electron microscope looking for a link between positive animal welfare practices and the abundance of microglia (the brain’s primary innate immune cells).
