Disability and the zoo industry

I recently wrote a blog for the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) about my experience as a disabled person in the industry. I have been asked by Liane to share it here.

Hi all, I am a recent graduate of a Zoo Science foundation degree in the UK. As part of my years at university I began writing and researching about disability and that lead me to writing a blog for the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) which can be read here: https://biaza.org.uk/news/detail/blog-disability-and-the-zoo-industry-are-they-compatible

Since leaving my university course it has been challenging working out where (or if) I fit in this industry as a disabled person. I have found that the grant writing course with WildHub is a nice change of pace whilst still engaging with the environmental community. I hope to continue to be impassioned about wildlife, disability, inclusion and finding a place where all those intersections can meet peacefully.

Hi Thirza, thank you for reading and sharing. It feels great to be building on a much needed conversation around disability and the industry.
