Discover the transformative journey of Mukilan – a nature enthusiast transitioning from Project Management to conservation. In this interview, we unravel his evolving perspective, his impactful role in Monitoring and Evaluation, and the lessons learned from over 15 years of diverse experiences. Join us as we discuss his skills, the importance of collaboration, and a commitment to contribute to the conservation of our precious natural world. Let's begin!

Ussi: How has your background in Project Management led you to conservation?

Mukilan: I am not from a conservation background, but my love for nature has driven me to learn about conservation and contribute my skills to nature. I am eager to explore and contribute to the conservation field.

Ussi: In your current role focused on Monitoring and Evaluation in consultancy, how do you see the impact of your efforts?

Mukilan: Currently, in my role as Consultant Program Measurement, I am closely collaborating with the M&E team to regularly collect data on standard indicators, providing valuable insights into the impact of our efforts.

One of the key things I realized in Project Management and M&E is collaboration and communication. For example, our quarterly report was prepared from our team's monthly reports. Though the monthly report was not mandatory, the team made sure that the monthly reports were prepared so that all the key activities against the program were captured, which was very helpful in preparing the Quarterly report. I realized the power of collaboration to help achieve the goal.
