Hi all!
I am finishing my environmental sciences undergraduate this year and so I started searching for the next path on my career, I am interested on Geographic/ Satellital Data Science on the UK, but because I am from spain i am subjected to the international fees.
I am searching for means to get a fully funded or partial opportunity, but not having much luck finding opportunities.
Does anyone know of private, external scholarships that are interested in this?
I am having a rough time with this so I was wondering if anyone could help me.

Hi Paula, thank you for sharing your ask for help with the community and I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing a rough time!
We have a database of grants opportunities (see the link below), which can be found in room description of the grant opportunities room (if you click on the "watch" button there you will be notified when new opportunities are published there. WildTeam and the Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP) compiled the original list. WildHub members helped add to it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_8XfKnI9lkjfy02pIBbJQRFMJNWOEegZml7AUH7bixs/edit#gid=814568326
I hope there will be some scholarship opportunities for you in that database. In any case, I would like to loop @Fátima D. Giganteand @Fernando Mateos-González into this conversation because of their insight into the opportunities when being based/from Spain and because they run a 'sibling' community El BioGrupo
Given your interest in Satellite data science, you may also be interested in opportunities offered by Connected Conservation (example here).
Hope these resources and connections will be useful to you and feel free to check in during our WildHub social on the 20th of December to get some more advice from fellow members.
Hi Paula!
I’m not sure this is helpful or up to date but here are some ideas:
1. DataLab/School of Geosciences Scholarships in GIS at the University of Edinburgh: This program offered one fully funded scholarship for the MSc in Geographical Information Science for the 2023-2024 academic session. The scholarship covers tuition fees and includes training and networking events. Applicants must have a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Edinburgh and meet certain academic criteria. Maybe there is the same for 2024-2025?
2. University-Specific Scholarships: Many UK universities offer scholarships for international students, including those pursuing postgraduate degrees. Check the websites of universities that offer programs in Geographic/Satellite Data Science for specific scholarship opportunities.
3. Chevening Scholarships: Funded by the UK Government, Chevening offers scholarships for international students to study in the UK. These scholarships are highly competitive and cover tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs.
4. Erasmus+ Programme: Although the UK has opted out of Erasmus+ post-Brexit, as an EU citizen, you might find opportunities in other participating countries with strong programs in your field of interest.
5. Research Council Funding: UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and other research councils sometimes offer funding for international students, particularly at the doctoral level.
6. Private and Charitable Foundations: Foundations such as the Rhodes Trust, the Marshall Scholarship, and the Fulbright Commission offer scholarships for international students. There are also smaller foundations and trusts that offer funding based on specific criteria.
Here are some useful websites as a good starting point:
1. **British Council – Study UK**: This is an official UK government website for international students. It provides information about studying in the UK and has a section dedicated to scholarships and financial support.
