Hi!
Hi Wildhub! I'm a vet currently travelling and working with wildlife on a voluntary basis. I've been working with small animals for the past 7 years and have just completed my Masters in Wild Animal Health.

I would love to connect with anyone who shares the same interests as me or if there are opportunities available where I could be useful!

Welcome Jess to wildhub community, I am sure you will find such collaboration here.
Thank you very much!
Wow, welcome Jess. Good to have you here. What are the other diagnostic options for TB in chimpanzees?
Thank you! There's a fair few, will send a message
Cool
I can't seem to send it, do you want to message me and I'll reply?
Okay, I'll do that. Thanks
Welcome to WildHub, Jess! What kind of opportunities are you looking for?
There is a social coming up where you may be able to connect with some of the other members here on WildHub :)
Thank you, that would be great! Currently looking at all potentials for the next career steps :)
A warm welcome to our WildHub community, Jess! In which country are you currently?
Some connections that may be useful for you to follow up on are the following members who are (wildlife) vets: @Olivia Walter , @Emily Talkington , @Natalia Rożniewska and @Simone Vitali Let us know how you get on? Joining the upcoming Member Socials, like Lara mentioned, is indeed a great way to get to know our community and the opportunities that are offered (link to RSVP here).
We also have some resources that you may be interested in: Olivia, who is Executive Director at Wildlife Vets International (WVI) organised a webinar session about "What role does disease play in the conservation of threatened wildlife?" (recording here), which also includes an intro to WVI. Hope these connections and resources will help!
This is amazing and really helpful, thank you so much!
Welcome to WildHub Jess! Theres a lovely growing community here, I'm sure in time you'll make some good connections :)
Thank you very much!
Hi Jess, welcome to the WildHub community! You did some interesting research, I'm sure you'll find good opportunities here!
Thank you so much!
Hi Jess,
at the Jaguar Rescue Center ( near Puerto Viejo, Limon, Costa Rica ) they work with volunteers at the center's clinic. The JRC advertises for volunteers on their website, but not for these clinic positions. I don't know if they need volunteers right now but would be happy to ask the head vet ( is that the phrase? ) if you are interested.
cheers
Frank
That would be absolutely amazing, if you wouldn't mind asking I'd be extremely grateful! :) Thank you very much
Hi @Jess Quinlan ,
Just now, I sent you a message through the forum's message system. The vet invited you to contact him.
kind regards
Frank
PS sorry for the long wait, I had phone issues, and then decided to wait until I would meet him, which was yesterday.
Thank you so much! I got your message and no worries at all, my internet is also terrible currently so it is taking a while for me to get anything through :) thank you again! I hope you enjoyed your visit there as well!
Hi Jess, just a quick message to check in and ask how you are getting on: did you end up visiting/volunteering at the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica that @Frank van der Most introduced you too? Or did your journey lead you elsewhere?
Yeah, I have been meaning to ask this too, Jess! Sorry for not actually having done it
