Hi, I'm Martin Ononyume. I'm a researcher and teacher at the University of Calabar, Nigeria where I teach modules in Ecology and Botany. Seven years and counting on the fantastic journey of academia where I guide and mentor young people to become better than I am. My research is focused on the role of tropical forests (rainforests and mangroves) and agroecosystems in climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration.
I love to take long walks when I'm not teaching or studying, especially in tree-shaded areas (calms and soothes).
I am confident that this course will allow me to gain invaluable knowledge in grant writing and give me a chance to meet and network with great minds along the way.
Thank you for this opportunity.

Hi Tania. Nice to e-meet you.
A warm welcome to WildHub, Martin! I like what you wrote about mentoring young people to become even better than us :) Which training course will you be starting?
Thanks Thirza, I'm glad to be here and thrilled to be a part of the Grant Writing for Wildlife Conservation Training (Gwac, Gwac). We had the first live session for our cohort yesterday and it was amazing e-meeting Lea our instructor and other participants.
Hi Martin, Great to hear that you had a good first live session yesterday with @Léa K and your cohort. I look forward to following your progress; feel free to share your lessons learned based on the Grant Writing course with our WildHub members after you've completed it - your insights could be of value to the rest of the community.
Welcome to WildHub, Martin!
