New volunteering positions with Ubuntu Magazine

Journalist
For our journalist position, we are looking for someone open, enthusiastic, spontaneous, curious, and a people person. That does not mean that you have to be extraverted for this position, as besides the previous, we love a good listener on our side.
As a journalist, it is your goal to ask the right questions at the right time to the conservationist. Depending on your interests and knowledge, you can prepare these questions by yourself, or with help from the rest of the team.
The time needed for this position is approximately 10-12 hours per 3 months.
Experience with journalism or interviewing people is not needed but will be an advantage. The same goes for any knowledge about nature and wildlife conservation.
Illustrator
Looking through our magazine, you’ll notice that illustrations are our secret trademark. They are minimalistic, yet always on point. We include them with every feature to give them that extra touch. Are you ready to make that happen?
What we are looking for is someone with illustration experience in the same style that we are already using. We would love to see some of your previous work in your application!
Additionally, we are always open to hearing about any other ideas that you might have as an illustrator. So feel free to let us know what you think!
The time needed for this position is dependent on your level of expertise AND willingness to put in the time. So there is no fixed amount of hours at the moment.
Graphic Designer
Are you ready to join Arina, our other Graphic Designer, to create the most stunning magazine you have ever seen? And do you have experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop? Great!
We prefer someone with experience in creating brochures, magazines, or other similar content, but feel free to send your portfolio to us so we can check it out!
The time needed for this position is roughly 20 to 30 hours per 3 months. Graphic Design is mostly needed in the second half of these 3 months.
Writer
A magazine is made up of so many components, that every individual within our team is irreplaceable. Nevertheless, it is needless to say that we can’t publish anything without the articles being written. Writing the articles is therefore a crucial step to take for us. That’s exactly why we are looking for people to join our team!
Are you the one filling diaries day after day, writing columns, blog posts, or social media posts whenever you can? And have you been dreaming of a position where your passion for nature and wildlife conservation comes together with your love for writing? Then we are looking for you!
A background in biology, ecology, or any related field is not necessary, yet highly recommended.
For this position, we do not have an estimated time requirement. We do ask you to write at least one feature per issue.
Are you our new journalist, illustrator, graphic designer, or writer? We would love to get to know you!
Send us an email now at hello@ubuntumagazine.com with your CV and some information about yourself. Please let us know in the subject for which position you are applying.
We will get back to you ASAP.
