Hi there all! I'm a natural scientist with 25years experience employing behavioural science to promote sustainable development and biodiversity conservation solutions. I've worked at TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade specialist, since 2011 and lead their programme on social and behaviour change. We have projects in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas and are currently also implementing a two year Technical Support Programme for the 30+ countries in the Global Wildlife Program interested in bringing behaviour change into their projects. These deal with issues such as Human Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence, Wildlife Trade, One Health, Nature Based Tourism and Nature Based Economies. We also work closely with the CITES Secretariat and I have been rolling out regional training for Parties in 'Guidance on Demand Reduction' that I wrote and was adopted at CoP19 in Panama. I am a Communications & Media Specialist; I Possess specialized skills in biodiversity conservation and natural resource governance communication. I have over six years of experience working in varied capacities with media houses and civil society organizations. My purpose is: amplifying biodiversity conservation, sustainable wildlife management and human-wildlife coexistence stories through visual and written narratives.

As a graduate of Environmental Science, my background equips me with the requisite skills in hydrology, ecology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Impact Assessment among other fields. My skillset includes but not limited to; Communication skills, Teamwork, Knowledge Sharing, Critical Thinking, Problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. In my current role as an Assistant Environmentalist at Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), I have been actively involved in environmental monitoring and auditing, developing and implementing environmental management systems, and interpreting field requirements. My responsibilities also include generating environmental progress reports and ensuring compliance with environmental standards, which have equipped me with a solid understanding of field methods and diagnostic tools. I am also committed to professional excellence and continuous learning, as evidenced by my participation in several professional training programs, including workshops on Integrated Water Resources Management and GIS fundamentals. I’m Gaia, 27 years old, originally from Italy, and currently based in Sint Maarten. While my background is in wildlife conservation, I strongly believe that knowledge and information should be accessible and shared with people of all ages. This is why I focus much of my work on engaging young people in Sint Maarten. I’m also passionate about the power of behavioral change as a tool to address many of today’s environmental challenges. I’m here to expand my network, gain new insights, and draw inspiration from the community!

I lead on the Whitley Fund for Nature's Network Development programme, supporting and creating connections among the 200-strong global network to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration, and strengthen capacity. Previous to this role, I worked for Galapagos Conservation Trust for over seven years across project management and operations/finance. I hold an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London. I am passionate about habitat restoration, the conservation of endemic species and inspiring the next generation of conservation leaders.

I have over 30 years' experience working in conservation, often at the interface with sustainable development. I have led teams, programmes, and sometimes thinking, at, amongst others, WWF, ZSL and Save the Rhino International. I have a lot of experience of conceiving, designing, implementing and evaluating conservation strategies and interventions. I have a particular interest in identifying and trying to answer some of the 'big' questions around conservation in the 21st century.

I have an interest in Invasive non native species and ecosystem restoration. I have experience with a range of software such as Vortex 10 Population Viability Analysis to both Arc and QGIS. I am currently a GIS and Data officer for a record center in mid Wales. Prior to this I have mainly been based in the UK working with various Wildlife Trusts and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee.  I have worked on projects in the Osa Peninsula (Costa Rica) across multiple taxa for monitoring and conservation.
